To ensure that AirAsia guests are provided a comfortable and safe booking environment, AirAsia has invested substantially to expand, implement and maintain its online payment systems and especially, to upgrade, enhance and improve the security features for online credit, debit and charge cards payments. The Processing Fee is to subsidize the costs of the payment systems.
A Processing Fee is charged when payment is made through credit, debit or charge cards. The fee is charged per guest for each way and only applies to the initial booking. Any changes or addition to existing booking is excluded from the Processing Fee. The fee is non-refundable.

How do I pay for sports equipment fee? What are the fees?
The most convenient way would be to pre book Sports Equipment Fee online and save up to 50%. You can pay the sports equipment fee upon check in at the airport counter but it will be more expensive and limited to 20kg. If you pre-book online, you can select from various Sport Equipment weight tiers: 15kg, 20kg, 25kg, 30kg, 35kg and 40kg. These Sport Equipment fees are typically slightly higher than regular Baggage fees as it includes a handling fee.
Sports Equipment Fee is applicable to Surfboards, Snowboards, Bicycles, Scuba, Golf and Snow Skiing gears. Any other sporting equipment (that is not stated earlier) is accepted as part of the baggage allowance and you can just purchase normal baggage allowance for that.

Will there be charges if I check in at the airport counter for my flight?
Check in fee of RM10 (it’s equivalent in foreign currency) will be charged for all domestic flights in Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan (1,000 yen) at the counter and also to reprint boarding pass. There will be no counter check in fee for all international flights effective 22nd December 2011.
To save time and costs you may perform web check in, mobile check in and kiosk check in. If you are performing a web check-in kindly make sure that you are able to print your boarding pass; if you are performing kiosk check in make sure you have your 6-digit booking reference number ready.
There will be no counter check in charge for dropping luggage for self check in guests.
Counter check-in is free of charge on other airlines. What is the rationale for AirAsia to implement a fee?
This is to promote better efficiency and be cost effective. AirAsia will now focus on self check-in (via web and mobile) and counter check-in will be chargeable as it is an additional service with added human resources. It will be considered as part of AirAsia value added service to its guests.
Counter check-in charges will also be part of ancillary revenue stream. Revenue via ancillary streams helps AirAsia offset the escalating jet fuel price, which has exceeded USD$110 per barrel. Instead of transferring the full cost of the jetfuel price hike to AirAsia guests, AirAsia choses to counter the spike by aggressively growing its revenue through ancillary products and services.
Counter check-in fee is a service fee that applies to a guest who performs a manual check-in at the airport check-in counter for domestic flights.
The RM10 charge is based on the calculation of rental and manpower cost needed per day of operations, for one pax per check-in counter.
When will it be effective?
Effective 22 Dec 2011, check-in fees for international flights will be waived whereas there will be no changes in fees for domestic flights.
How much is the counter check-in fee and does the fee vary by destination/airport?
Counter check-in fee is RM10 (and its currency exchange equivalent) per guest and payable at the airport check-in counter or online. The fee will be the same across all destinations and airports where counter check-in fee applies.
